Rita Horton will discuss her Healing Touch practice, and as with many people involved in the healing arts, her interest in it developed after she experienced a serious life event. Rita spent several years working in the banking industry before becoming a Licensed Real Estate Broker. Over the succeeding three decades, Rita founded her own real estate company and later merged it with a national organization. During this time, she also trained over 1,600 real estate brokers as part of her interest in real estate professional development as a licensed Real Estate Instructor.
In 2010, after a cancer diagnosis and its subsequent treatment, Rita began to reimagine her life’s priorities. At the urging of her oncologist, she attended an Integrative Healing Seminar during which she was introduced to Healing Touch, acupuncture, tai chi, visualization, spiritualization, journaling, and aromatherapy. In 2012, Rita left real estate and spent the next four years studying Healing Touch. After completing its five levels of training to become certified as a Healing Touch Practitioner, Rita opened a private practice in Charlotte, North Carolina. In addition to her practice work, she now volunteers her time and skills to help other cancer patients through their post-treatment recovery.
Healing Touch is an energy therapy in which practitioners consciously use their hands in a heart-centered and intentional way to support and facilitate physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health and self-healing. Healing Touch reduces anxiety, tension, stress, fatigue, pain, and hospital length of stay. Facilitates wound healing and assists in the management and treatment of side effects from medical treatment.
Rita Horton, a native of Long Island NY, lives in North Carolina. She and her husband Lanny have one daughter and two adorable grandchildren.
